Overview

Did you know that the PORT WINE triggered one of the oldest appellations in the world in 1756? Throughout this experience, ALL THE WINES ARE PAIRED with a bite that will enhance its taste.

Port wines hold a great kind of variety – WHITE PORT WINES, RED PORT WINES, and ROSE PORT WINES – with a wide range of sweetness and a broad variety of colors.

We will begin our experience with some quick remarks on how to taste Port wine and better know each other while exploring the XXI century ROSE PORT WINE, which follows a revolutionary production process and is fruity and sweet, perfect to drink as a cocktail.

We will then dive into the WHITE PORT WINE with a dry one and then a sweeter one, which tends to be fruitier and more complex, and a vintage one.

We will continue our experience with the RED PORT WINE category in which we will try two widely different TAWNYS, which are obtained from grapes that are aged in oak casks or barrels and are fresh, complex, and woody yet extremely well balanced; a RUBY which is a full-bodied and fruity, obtained from the blend of wines from various harvests; and a rare CRUSTED which ages for two years in wooden barrels and is bottled without filtration.

Better than the standard tasting in the cellars

Fantastic experience that expanded our knowledge of port wines and their history. Great intimate environment, personable and extremely knowledge host, and a fun time. João is great at explaining the where, when and how of Portuguese wine. He always was happy to answer any of our questions, and we left feeling more informed and educated on what we like and what options are available. Definitely an experience to not miss.
